How Finance For Businesses Has Been Hit By The Recession

November 26th, 2009

Finance for businesses has been hit hard through this recession. It’s starting to come to an end but many businesses still have trouble getting finance. The number of personal credit cards and business credit cards being issued and being marketed is much less than it was two years ago.

This is a good thing in many respects as loans were given out to freely and this is what led towards the world recession that we are in now and many banks going bankrupt. Some say that banks should be stricter that they are now about who they lend to. Others say that a healthy economy relies on a good source of credit.

Businesses often rely heavily on credit to purchase equipment and provide them with working capital to run their business. This does not only apply to small businesses, but of course small businesses are often the worst hit.

Such services as, vehicle tracking is a great example of something that many mobile businesses both small and large now consider to be a necessity, but have trouble getting the finance for. The problem is that getting a lease on vehicle tracking systems is now very hard according to www.vehicletrackingsystems.org.uk. Frank Jameson said, “This is due to many vehicle tracking companies going out of business and leaving leasing companies with customers who resent paying for a tracking system they no longer have. This would not usually be a problem for a lease car or a photocopier as you can reposes them, but with a vehicle tracking system the equipment is not worth as much as the lease as much of the economic value is in the air time and service both of which cannot be reposed.

These are the sort of problems which are still affecting businesses around the country due to a stricter policy on finance. We as citizens in directly have share in many of the high street banks so many say it is about time we saw the benefits to this partial nationalisation that has cost us an absolute forture.

Spain hit hardest by Recession

April 10th, 2009

We think we have it bad in the UK. Yes we do have rising unemployment and house prices dropping, but nowhere in Europe seems to have it as bad as Spain. In Madrid they have actually setup soup kitchens to deal with the huge number of unemployed who cannot afford to feed themselves.

A few years ago Spain was thriving from a huge boom. High paid jobs in the building industry and many other sectors saw many with good incomes, but now with the recession many have lost their jobs. Building sites are deserted leaving buildings half built. Spanish banks report are 4 times as much bad debt as this time last year.

There are many signs of the hard times in Spain. Sales of job publications and online job searches have risen considerably in the last 12 months. Such websites as the Ofertas de Trabajo en Barcelona Website is just one of many new sites that have sprung up in recent times to meet the demand for the new job searches being made.

Other signs include the many people who blame the large immigrant population that can be found in Spain. Spain has a large immigrant population from both South America and Eastern Europe. Many of which came in good times to take up the many well paid jobs.

Many of the Spanish that are being hit by the problems are the less educated and these people cannot take advantage of the technology drive that Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero is introducing to increase employment and prosperity to Spain.

Signing the Back of Your Credit Card

November 24th, 2008

Consumers have mixed messages regarding whether they should sign the back of the card for protection purposes. We used to be told that signing the back of the card was essential and imperative in order to protect against credit card theft, but then credit card theft was still not stopped. This began the circulation of information informing consumers that they should not sign the back of their cards. By not signing the back of their credit card the personnel in the store is then supposed to ask to see the card holders ID. There is a fallacy in this thought as well as in signing the back of your credit card with your signature. Read the rest of this entry »
