Preventing Credit Card Theft
The scenario of having your credit card stolen has been escalating all over the world, and now it seems that Ireland is getting its share as well. The only real way to prevent credit card theft is to not have a credit card in the first place. This probably isn’t realistic in today’s world though. So what is the answer? As Irish citizens, you must pay close attention to everything that comes into your home via the post.
If you haven’t been using your credit card the credit card company may take it upon themselves to mail you another. You haven’t asked for one, they just decided you needed it. This may occur if you did not use the one they sent you at renewal time. If your bank did this and you had no idea of it, someone could get a hold of the new card without your knowledge and set to charging things to your credit card.
It is very important in this day and age to keep very good track of your credit and what may turn up on it. If you suspect that someone has gotten your credit card number, contact the card company right away. They most likely will review it and remove it for you. Take control of your credit cards by being diligent.
