Should Amendment to Child Protection Act Pass for Credit Card?

In 2006 a new law was proposed in the UK regarding paedophiles and the use of credit cards. Child pornography sites exist, and yet they are very hard to track down and stop because of the tricky ways the websites are designed. Though police are working hard to stop child pornography, it is a long process. The law proposed in 2006 makes it easier for the police to do their job and stop paedophiles from earning money for the pornography as well as stopping other paedophiles from being able to use the site.

The move has been in consideration by charities and card issues for sometime before the actual proposal to the Data Protection Act was discussed at the House of Lords. Basically the amendment would allow credit card issuers to cancel the cards of known paedophiles or even those suspected of it. The Data Protection Act before this proposal could not allow credit card companies to see how the cards were being used.

While it seems like a bit of privacy violation to the average individual, it works to protect the innocent from being hurt by these paedophiles. The information the Data Protection Act amendment would provide would go straight to the police regarding card usage.
